Family Home Evening

So, I have had a hard time with doing family home evening since my sweet, beautiful little girl came into our family in December 2011. I have a strong testimony in doing family home evening and loved it with our family. However my sweet baby girl is very mobile, wiggly, and has never really sat well in our laps since lets be honest 4 months old. I wanted to teach her even if she will not remember. So I have found great things online, love the nursery manual, but guess what baby girl is still to young for all that. We need like 5 min lessons top. That includes two prayers, two songs, lesson, and activity lol. So hoping this helps other families who have young child as the only one or the oldest, hope this helps. I decided to choose a primary song as the theme of the month. So we sing it every family home evening, I sing it to her every night before she goes to bed. Every month it will be a new song new theme. Let me just share our first lesson doing it with my new outline and plan i was balling lol I felt the spirit so strong teaching her. I felt so proud to be her mama. Here it is: ( would love feedback and what you do)

January “ I am a Child of God”

Week 1: Who is my heavenly father?

Sing :I am a child of God.

Prayer:

Scripture: Psalms 82:6  6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are ^achildren of the most High.

 Lesson: Mommy and Daddy love you so much. Before we came to earth we lived in Heaven. We lived with our Heavenly Father, who is also known as God. We also lived with our Heavenly Mother.  When we lived with Heavenly father we were a spirit. Our spirit is inside of us and makes us alive. Heavenly father made us special. He loves us so much. We are children of God.

Week 2: Heavenly Father Loves me

Sing I am a child of God.

Prayer:

Scripture: 2 nephi 4:  20 My God hath been my ^asupport; he hath led me through mine ^bafflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.

 21 He hath filled me with his ^alove, even unto the ^bconsuming of my flesh.

Lesson( during lesson have baby draw with a crayon on a paper that says I am a child of God)How do you know that Mommy and Daddy love you? Mommy and Daddy provide you with food, and shelter. They teach you to choose the right. We play with you, and spend time with you.  How do we know that our Heavenly Father loves us? He shows us every day, with the beautiful earth, scriptures, prophets here on earth today, our families. He sent his son Jesus Christ to earth to teach us. Because of our brother Jesus Christ we can live with Heavenly Father again if we ctr.

We show Heavenly Father that we love him when we choose the right, pray, and stay obedient. President Hinckley says when we do this:  “He will watch over you and guide you and protect you. He will bless you in your schoolwork and in your Primary. He will bless you in your home, and you will be a better boy or girl. … Never forget, my dear young friends, that you really are a child of God who has inherited something of His divine nature, one whom He loves and desires to help and bless” (“You Are a Child of God,” Liahona and Ensign, May 2003, 119; Friend, May 2003, 6).

Week 3: Heavenly Father made a Plan

Sing : I lived in Heaven

Prayer:

Scripture: This is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (Moses 1:39).

 Lesson: Before you came to earth, you lived with Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. You lived with family members that loved you and friends. Heavenly Father presented a plan, that he would send his son Jesus Christ, your big brother down to earth and he would teach us how to be more like him. He then would die for us because he had so much love, so we could return to heaven with everyone that we loved. Because of what Jesus did for us, we do our very best to choose the right.

Activity: Look at pictures of Jesus.( do this during lesson to keep them quiet)

Week 4: Heavenly Father made me a beautiful earth to live in

Sing : All things bright and beautiful

Prayer:

Scripture: 2 Nephi 2:14  And now, my sons, I speak unto you these things for your profit and ^alearning; for there is a God, and he hath ^bcreated all things, both the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are, both things to act and things to be ^cacted upon.

 Lesson: Heavenly Father loves you so much. He created everything we have here. He created the earth and the heavens. ( show pictures of what you will share or go outside and look) He created : Mommy, Daddy, the trees, the water, the mountains, the rocks, the flowers, the dogs. The birds, the chickens, the kitties. When we see things that he created for us, we feel happy, and think of him.

Activity: if weather is okay go for a walk and point out the beauty of the earth.
